Dental Veneers
Each procedure is tailored to each individual patient because no two cases are the same as no two people are the same. That’s why we take the time to provide all the details about each case and procedure.
Dental Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain or composite that is bonded to the front surface of the tooth in order to improve its appearance. They can be used to cover chipped teeth, stained teeth, crooked teeth, and more. In addition to being versatile in terms of what they can fix, veneers can also be used to correct a single tooth defect or for an entire smile makeover. Their versatility is one main reason for their popularity. Dental Veneers are very durable and will remain intact for many years.
-
The best candidates for dental veneers are those who are not satisfied with the appearance of their teeth. Dental veneers work well to fix:
Chipped or broken teeth
Spaces between teeth
Crooked or misaligned teeth
Stained and discolored teeth
Worn down teeth
Oddly shaped or unevenly sized teeth

When having dental veneers placed at Dental Solutions New York, you can expect to be given a local anesthetic that numbs the treatment area. Before placing veneers, our dentist will first have to prepare the tooth by removing a small amount of enamel. This process will allow the porcelain or composite material to bond to the tooth without making your teeth appear bulky or affecting your bite.
After this preparation is done, a mold of the tooth is taken and sent over to a dental lab so that your veneers can be fabricated. While your veneers are being fabricated, our dentist will have you wear temporary veneers to protect your teeth and maintain the necessary amount of space. After about one to two weeks, you will return to our office so that we can bond the permanent veneers onto your tooth with a special cement.
-
After having temporary veneers placed, you will temporarily need to avoid chewing on that side of your mouth in order to prevent the veneers from being damaged or dislodged. Once your permanent veneers are placed, you can resume your normal routine. You will need to care for your veneers by brushing and flossing daily, and scheduling regular dental exams. For the first few days after your new veneers are placed, you may experience some minor tooth sensitivity and/or soreness in the gums. This will fade once your mouth has adapted to the new restoration.

With proper care, dental crowns can last 10 to 15 years or longer. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene can help extend their lifespan.
