Invisalign

Invisalign® is a form of orthodontic treatment that straightens the teeth and aligns the bite through the use of clear plastic aligners that are worn over the upper and lower teeth. Multiple sets of aligners are used and each set of aligners is slightly different from the previous, allowing progressive movement of teeth toward their proper positions. In addition to being discreet, these aligners are also removable, meaning that there is no need for dietary restrictions. Because of their discreet appearance and minimal impact on one’s lifestyle, Invisalign® has become a popular choice for teens and adults undergoing orthodontic treatment.

  • You may be a candidate for Invisalign® if you have any of the following problems:

    • Overcrowded teeth

    • Overlapping teeth

    • Cross bites

    • Open bites

    • Underbites

  • When you schedule an appointment at Dental Solutions New York, we’ll start by determining whether Invisalign® is suitable for you based on your tooth structure and treatment goals. After that, your smile will be scanned and photos will be taken, which will be sent to a lab where they will make you a unique series of Invisalign® aligners.

    When your aligners are finished, you’ll come in for a fitting to ensure everything looks and feels just right. From that point on, you will continue to wear your aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day, and should only remove them while eating, drinking anything besides water, brushing and flossing. You will visit our office every now and then to receive new aligners and have your progress assessed. You will also need to replace your aligners every two weeks until your treatment is complete.

  • On average, Invisalign® treatment can last anywhere from 6 months to 12 months or more depending on the complexity of your case. However, you will start to notice results within a matter of weeks. Once treatment is over, you will be fitted with a Vivera retainer to wear as directed by our orthodontist. The Vivera retainer is made from the same material as Invisalign® and is also clear, discreet, and removable. It is important to wear your retainer as directed in order to maintain your treatment results.

  • Invisalign is effective for many cases, especially mild to moderate alignment issues. However, more complex cases may require traditional braces for optimal results.
