LANAP Laser Gum Treatment
Each procedure is tailored to each individual patient because no two cases are the same as no two people are the same. That’s why we take the time to provide all the details about each case and procedure.
LANAP Laser Gum Treatment is a revolutionary treatment for periodontal disease that does not use scalpels. Instead, LANAP uses laser technology to target and remove infected gum tissue while leaving healthy gum tissue intact. Additionally, LANAP can also slow or stop attachment loss and decrease periodontal pocket depth, which allows the gums to heal themselves.
-
You may be a candidate for LANAP if you have periodontal disease. While periodontal disease can only be accurately diagnosed by a periodontist or dentist, some symptoms can include:
bad breath
bleeding when you brush or floss
loose teeth
gums that are tender, red, painful, swollen or receding
pain while chewing
To determine if you have periodontal disease and/or if you can benefit from LANAP laser gum treatment, schedule a consultation with our Flushing, Queens periodontist at Dental Solutions New York.

When undergoing LANAP at Dental Solutions New York, you can expect our periodontist to gently probe your gums to determine how much treatment is needed. Then, they will use a periodontal laser to target and eliminate disease-causing bacteria. An ultrasonic scaler will then be used to remove tartar deposits from the surface of the teeth and grind down the tooth surface to prevent new tartar from forming. The laser will then be used again in order to help connect the gum tissue back to the tooth root. The entire procedure generally takes about an hour and is minimally-invasive.
-
After undergoing LANAP, you can immediately return to your normal routine since there is no recovery period. In some cases, you may experience minor discomfort immediately after your appointment, however this generally fades within the first 24 hours. Since LANAP uses a periodontal laser, you will also not need to worry about sutures.

LANAP, or Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure, is a minimally invasive dental treatment for gum disease. It uses a specialized laser to remove infected gum tissue while preserving healthy tissue. This procedure promotes healing and allows for the regeneration of lost gum attachment to the teeth.

LANAP is a laser-based procedure focused on treating more severe gum disease with less discomfort, while deep cleaning is a traditional method used for early to moderate gum disease, primarily focusing on cleaning
the affected areas.
